Dan Mendelson appointed membership chair of MCSA

MCSAAs part of my responsibility to the industry which I serve, I am always interested in improving the standards in the security industry. From a personal standpoint a better trained security officer means my family and friends and the citizens of this country are better protected from any potential threats or harm. From a business standpoint, for Unitex Direct, a higher professional standard for a security officer means that he will want to dress at his best and that's what we accomplish on a daily basis for our customers. I have always been an advocate of supporting those organizations whose goals are to further the competency and expertise of security officers in this industry. One such organization, in my home state, is the Michigan Contract Security Association (MCSA). MCSA's goals are to: "to enhance professionalism in the security industry through the establishment of standards, the Dan Mendelsonpromotion and promulgation of ethics and education, and to engage the political process for the good of the industry." I've recently accepted the role of membership chairman and I look forward to helping MCSA grow so that they can continue to improve the security industry in Michigan.

Free Travel Ideas for Washington DC
My family visited Washington DC last month and took advantage of many free sights in our nation's capitol. First on our list of recommendations would be to visit the recently re-opened and historic Ford's Theatre. The National Park Rangers will give you a thrilling talk on what happened on President Abraham Lincoln's last day in office. The lower level of theatre has been converted into an excellent museum on the Civil War and Lincoln's time in office and offers a better understanding of this important conflict in American history. Allow two hours for this visit to walk through the museum and hear the talk. Tickets are free, but you may have to wait in line depending on the season you visit.

The Old Post Office offers tremendous view from its open-air 12th story tower. You get the same view as visiting the Washington Monument. It's free and there were no lines when we visited.

The United States Supreme Court offers a free talk on the judicial branch of our government. See where the laws of the land are argued and decided.
